Srinagar, July: International cricketer of Valley Parvez Rasool termed his stint with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisee side Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as big learning curve for him which is going to help improve his game.

“I was lucky to be part of tparvez-rasoolhe RCB side that is filled up with so many stars who are no less then legends in International cricket arena. It was big learning experience for me to be associated with players of that stature who were all helpful,” Parvez said.

Parvez Rasool is the first player from Kashmir to play for Team India. He debuted in the IPL – another first for a Kashmiri – for the now disbanded Pune Warriors in 2013. The following year, he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad and was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore this season.

Parvez had great start to his IPL-2016 with math winning bowling performance in RCB’s opening encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The whole team led by Virat Kohli praised the Kashmiri star but later in the event Parvez was not able to replicate his debut performance. He went on to play three to four matches in the side that went all the way to final.

“Initially I did well and got praise from whole team. However, after that things started to get difficult. If we look at the statistics IPL-2016 has been worst for the spinners. I don’t know what the real reasons behind this were but this is fact. We tried hard but none of us was able to do what was required of us. Still there were no complaints from the management as they knew that nothing is helping spinners this season,” he said.

About his experience of training under Coach Daneil Vettori, he said, “I am among few lucky to get opportunity to train under legend like Vettori. It was proud to work under him and he is a class human being. I have never seen funny coach like him who enjoys what he does. He makes things easy during training and is always ready to help whoever approaches him”.

Parvez is among the very few players who have trained under off spin legends like Bishen Singh Bedi, Muttiah Muralitharan and Daniel Vettori. Bedi was JK Ranji Trophy coach while as Muralitharan was with Sunrisers Hyderabad when Parvez played for them last season.

“What can I say except that I have been lucky. They all are legends of the game with all having their own distinct styles. In Sha Allah the experience of working all these will help me in near future,” he said.

About the RCB team and how it was to be part of the campaign that went all the way upto final, he said “Amazing team, great determination of succeeding at highest level. The team led by Virat Kohli showed never die attitude. When it was required to win all matches, whole team stepped up and did exactly what was required. The atmosphere inside dressing room was amazing with everyone encouraging each other”.

“I will work hard on my bowling and batting during the domestic season. I hope to do well for JK in Ranji season and the go on to play for RCB again,” he added.
