Srinagar, November 29: A Tribute To Diego Maradona, exhibition match was played in Kashmir in memory of football great Diego Maradona at TRC Synthetic Turf Srinagar on Saturday.

National & International Footballers Forum J&K organised an exhibition match featuring some of the renowned footballers who played in this historic game to honor and pay tributes to one of the greatest players of all time Diego Maradona.

“The match featured two teams comprising of legends of the game who were donning the kit of Argentina and Napoli with each Jersey featuring the name of Mardona and Jersey no 10 made famous by the legend striker who dazzled the crowds during the 80s and 90s era, ” NIFF statement said.

A two minute silence was observed before the game and the legends displayed quality football to honour the memory of the great the best way possible.

Some legendary footballers of the past from the valley like Late Farooq Ahmed Bhat, Late Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Late Noor Mohammad, Late Mohammad Hanif and Late Mohammad Hussain were also remembered for their great contribution towards football, statement further said.

Many prominent and renowned ex footballers like Mohammad Shafi Nari,Khursheed Baba, Lateef Ahmed, M Syed,Aslam Parveez , Zahoor Haroon, Sajid Yousuf, Hilal Rasool,Manzoor Ahmed, Intikhab Alam, Shahnaz, Tariq Ahmed,Rizwan, Tamin Ahmed, Iftikhar, Javeed, Majid,Adil Qadir, Rayees, Rafiq, Irshad Ahmed took part in this event. Besides some reputed personalities like Adil Nisar, Ajaz Rah, Dr Fahad and few female footballers Afsha Ashiq, Qudsiya Altaf & Sana Afzal also participated in this event, it added.

Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir J&K Sports Council Nuzhat Ara was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Among other Bashir A Malik Chairman WC NIFF, Ab Hamid Banday Advisor NIFF and many others were present to witness this historic match.

The event was organised by National and International Footballers Forum with the support of J&K Sports Council. NIFF also thanked Zabarwan group and Cafe Liberty for extending their supporting to this event.
