District Development Commissioner Anantnag along with players and officials on Friday paid tributes to the cricketer Jehangeer Ahmad war who had died on Thursday after being hit by ball during Provincial level cricket tournament at Nanil, Anantnag.

To pay tribute to  Jehangeer Ahmad War  who hailed from Pattan and was representing Baramulla district in the event a condolence meeting was held at Sports Stadium Anantnag before the commencement of Friday’s matches. On the occasion District Development Commissioner Anantnag Khalid Jahangir , District Youth Services and Sports Officer Anantnag Noor Ul Haq Andrabi ,ZPEO Anantnag, Technical officials,field Staff and players of U-17 teams of Baramulla and Anantnag were present.

As per statement issued two minute silence was observed and fateh khawani was also held for the departed soul.

In his condolences address DDC advised the players not to lose heart and face the challenges with courage and valor which will be great tribute to the brave heart who lost his life while batting.

He  expressed sympathies with the bereaved family. He also prayed for departed soul. The players as a mark of respect have tied black bands on their arm. It has also been decided that the closing ceremony will be observed in a very simple way.
