CricketU-23 Tourney: Heartbreak as J&K suffer 3 run defeat in thriller

It was heartbreak as J&K suffered three run defeat in the last over finish against Mumbai in the match of the Under-23 One Day One Day tournament at Jaipur on Monday, February 18:

Even the late cameo played by Abid Mushtaq failed to help J&K cross the line, falling three runs short of a 141 run target set by Mumbai. Abid Got run out after scoring 16 runs from mere 6 balls in which he hit 2 fours and one six.

J&K were able to make only 238 runs in allotted overs for the loss 9 wickets.

Earlier Skipper for this match, Jiyad Magrey after winning the toss opted to bowl first while bowlers made sure to make most of this decision. First, seamers struck with early wickets, later spinners joined the party, restricting Mumbai to a low score.

Spin duo of Abid Mushtaq and Imtiyaz Ganai shared five, three and two respectively as Mumbai posted 241-run total, largely due to Vinod Ankolekar’s 63 runs.

In reply J&K were able to score 238/9 in allotted 50 overs. Nipun Verma scored a brilliant 73 run at top of the order while as A Bakshi scored 39, Musaif Aijaz 29, and Samad 31. Muneeb Munaaf remained not out on 23.
