J&K bowled 42 extras that included 34 wides as Assam defeated them by one wicket in a thrilling encounter of Under-23 Womens One Day tournament match at Rajkot on Sunday.

Playing its first match of the tournament J&KJ who were looking all set for a win failed to take last wicket of Assam. They had reduced Assam to 114/9 but then did not take another wicket as Assam reached to target of 139 in 43 overs. More than the overall batting failure it was indisciplined bowling effort that cost J&K game.In a low scoring game J&K bowled 42 extras and that eventually proved turning point.

Earlier Batting first J&K got all out for 139 runs in 46.4 overs. Nadia Chowdhary scored 28, Farkhanda Khan scored 25 and Tanisha Sharma 20.

In reply Assam achieved target for the loss of 9 wickets in 43.1 overs. Priyanka scored 29 and Uma scored 24. Bismah Hassan took 4-wkts for J&K while as Nadia took 3.
