The premier pace bowler of Pakistan cricket team Wahab Riaz has said that reverse swing gives him the edge and he has great relationship with Mohammad Amir.
Talking to ICC Digital ahead of the crucial clash against New Zealand, Wahab Riaz said, “ It was lovely to see ball reversing after long time. I get ball reverse because of my wrist as it is flexible. My round arm action helps me reverse the ball. The condition of the ball let you know whether it will revere or not. Whenever it does it ball I try to bowl up as there is chance and my ball reverses late. Other than that there is everything for the benefit of batsman and whenever it reveres it tend to ask questions to batsman. Otherwise they are cruel to all the bowlers.
About his relationship with Mohammad Amir , he said, “ Amir has been amazing. The kind of pressure he had and he has performed amid all that. He was not among the wickets and as bowler I know how difficult that is and even though he had self belief but people talk lot about you which is not easy to handle. To be with bowler like him who leads from the front is always really excited. The best thing is that we both talk to each other. We talk about how we should ball. He tells me something and I share whatever I have. We always listen to eachother”.
Comeback after India game, he said, “As a group we were telling eachother that we are letting team down and we need to bounce back. We have match winners in the team. We have to get that intent of winning matches. We don’t have to look at how other teams does, we have to do what we can. We have three games and need to win them as we have nothing to lose”.
