Indian wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni has often been caught giving those subtle bowling tips to spinners and making field changes as per the situation. In doing so, his instructions have often been caught by the stump mic. During the 5th ODI against New Zealand in Wellington, it was another such occasion where Mahi wasn’t entirely pleased with Yuzvendra Chahal making certain fielding changes, so much so that, the former skipper trolled the spinner in a way that even Kuldeep Yadav found it amusing.

Dhoni had earlier taken social media by storm by accurately predicting the kind of shot Trent Boult would play in the first ODI. With Kuldeep following his instructions without fail, the duo combined to produce a magical dismissal of what was the 10th Kiwi wicket, Dhoni proved his wicket-keeping brilliance once again.

With Kuldeep following his instructions without fail, the duo combined to produce a magical dismissal of what was the 10th Kiwi wicket, Dhoni proved his wicket-keeping brilliance once again.

The 5th ODI, however, produced a slightly different occasion when Chahal himself made a few changes in the field while Jimmy Neesham was batting at the crease. Kuldeep, who was on the field as a substitute, saw Dhoni’s troll targeting the Chahal absolutely hilarious.

“Phenkne de isko. Muralitharan se fielding meinuskofarakpadta hai”, a rough translation of the same would be: “Let him bowl! He is bothered more than (Muttiah) Muralitharan when it comes to field placements.” Kuldeep chuckled as Dhoni gave a piece of his mind to Chahal.

After getting off to a disastrous start with the bat, the Men in Blue recovered in time, thanks to Ambati Rayudu’s 90-run knock to post a challenging total of 252 runs on board. Indian bowlers put in a great all-round show that saw Chahal picking three wickets while Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya bagged two. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Kedar Jadhav also chipped in with a scalp each to bundle out the hosts for 217.

Having sealed the ODI series 4-1, the next focus for the Men in Blue is to win their first-ever T20I bilateral series in New Zealand. With the Kiwis holding an upper hand in terms of the head-to-head record in the format, the challenge will be a tricky one for Rohit Sharma’s men who are set to be without primary skipper Virat Kohli in the series.
