The 17 year old pace sensation from Kulgam district of Kashmir Rasikh Salam was surprise inclusion as Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 Franchisees shortlisted the players ahead of the IPL players auction on December 18.
The rookie pacer is reckoned as find of Irfan Pathan was last month called by Mumbai India’s for the selection trials after being noticed during J&K’s Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign. He went on to impresses the spotters and there was called for trails. As per eye witnesses he impressed the selectors during the trials and the Mumbai India’s is likely to go for him on Tuesday. His inclusion in shortlist is indication that they are likely to go for the youngster.
Salam recently also picked 6-wkt haul for J&K in Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy. Previously he had no experience of playing at any level for J&K. After being spotted by Pathan he was straight inducted into senior team and thereby was noticed by spotters.
Apart from Rasikh three other players Parvez Rasool, Umar Nazir and Manzoor Pandav are also in the pick for the franchisees. While Parvez and Umar went unsold last year, Pandav was taken by Kings XI Punjab but was released without given a match to play.
