Latest UpdatesWorld Cup 2019: Bangladesh outplay Afghanistan to remain in race of semifinals

Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 62 runs on Friday at the Rose Bowl to remain in the race of semifinals of the ICC Cricket World Cup. The Men in Green posted a dominating show to register the third win of the tournament. With this triumph, they moved up to fifth place in the Points Table. Here are the highlights of the match

Mujeeb’s superb bowling

After not being included in the initial matches of the tournament, young Mujeeb Ur Rahman made a mark with his superb bowling against Bangladesh. The spinner shone with the new ball, removing Liton Das in the fifth over of the innings. Later, when brought back into the attack, the swashbuckler trapped set batsman Shakib Al Hasan and Soumya Sarkar in front of the wickets to end up with a three-wicket-haul.

Mushfiqur Rahim’s clinical knock

After scoring a scintillating hundred against Australia, Mushfiqur Rahim played another special knock against Afghanistan. The wicket-keeper batsman piloted Bangladesh innings, scoring 83 runs off 87 balls. His inning included 4 fours and a six, helping Mushrafe Mortaza-led side post 262 runs on board.

Magician Shakib Al Hasan’s all-round show

In the ICC World Cup 2019, Shakib Al Hasan has been in the form of his life. The flamboyant cricketer is consistently scoring runs as well as scalping wickets for Bangladesh. Today, the all-rounder first scored fine knock of 51 runs while later was absolutely stunning with the ball. Afghanistan batsmen seemed to have no answer to his left-arm spin as he scalped a five-wicket-haul to hand Men in Green a big win.
