KARACHI: Darren Sammy, the man who twice led the West Indies to World T20 titles and also successfully captained Peshawar Zalmi to the PSL crown early this year, on Thursday paid rich tribute to Pakistan’s record-breaking batsman Younis Khan.
Younis Khan worked as a mentor for Peshawar Zalmi in seasontwo and Sammy was indeed impressed with Younis’ calm and confident approach towards the job. “ I have a lot of respect for legendary Younis Khan, it was a wonderful experience to work with him during Pakistan Super League’s second season,”said Sammy in a statement on Wednesday.
“Younis’ presence was key in motivating the Peshawar Zalmi players in the dressing room,” said Sammy. “I was really impressed by the way he tackled the pressure situations and guided the team and because of his presence we succeeded in lifting the title.”
“As mentor of Peshawar Zalmi squad, Younis was always willing to pass on his knowledge to younger player and that experience will be vital for for the younger players in the years to come.”
