Imtiyaz shined with the ball while as Zaid with as hosts Islamia College cruised into the final of the Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter College Cricket Cup defeating Amar Singh College by two wickets in the semifinal played at Islamia College Srinagar on Thursday.
Deciding to bat first after winning the toss A S College scored 197 runs in 29.4 overs for all wickets. For them Asif with 52 runs in 37 balls and Hazik with 54 in 38 balls were the top scorers. For the hosts college Imtiyaz took 4 and Kamran 3 wickets.
Chasing a target of 198 runs hosts achieved the target in last over with just 5 balls to spare. Zaid top scored with 60 of 48 balls and Irfan Bahadur contributed 33 of 28 balls. For A S College Owais took 2 wickets.
Earlier The Vice -Principal of the college Prof. Aijaz. Bhat and Prof. Abid Mirza the Convenor College sports committee were introduced to the teams. The final of the tournament will be an all Islamia College affair and will be played next week.
The tournament is being organised by the department of Physical Education Islamia College Srinagar.
