It was on March 21-1992 when one of the greatest stories of cricket World were written and one of the legends of the game announced his arrival.

On March 21 in 1992 it was a World Cup semi-final win for the Pakistan aka Cornered Tigers in Auckland. New Zealand made 262 for 7 thanks to Martin Crowe’s 91. Pakistan started slowly until Inzamam-ul-Haq smashed 60 off 37 balls. Javed Miandad & Moin Khan saw Pakistan home by 4 wickets.

It was this inning that made Inzimam or Inzy a consistant feature into the folklores of Pakistan cricket. A inning that made path for Pakistan to become World champions and an inning that changed the dynamics of cricket forever and an inning that made Inzimam the legend.

Very few know that Inzy was very reluctant in playing that match and it was only Imran Khan on who orders he had no choice but to play for Pakistan that day.

About that day Inzamam says “Before the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, I was feeling unwell. I told Mushtaq Ahmed to tell Imran Khan I was unwell & won’t be able to play. Mushtaq came back, he laughed and said Imran Khan has said no matter what, you will play”
