Srinagar, December 15: He has be known as goal poacher with some inbuilt finishing instincts and he is again proving that he is best in Kashmir in front of the goal.
Aakif Reshi of J&K Bank is emerging as top scorer of the ongoing Premier League J&K tournament. In absence of some known faces in J&K Bank like Danish Farooq, Farhan Ganie and Adnan who are on I-League duty with Real Kashmir FC, the South Kashmir born striker Aakif Reshi is rising to the occasion for his team.
In only three matches so far in league, he has already sent waves across Kashmir football circles.
In the three matches played, he has scored six goals that also include hat trick.
His most decisive FC goal so far came against Hyderya FC when Bank FC were desperately in need of the winner. When it was looking that match will turn out as a draw, Aakif completed the counter move from Bank by a courageous diving header, putting his body on the line. It was diving header that could have turned dangerous for him and the advancing keeper. But hardly caring for his well being, Aakif did what was needed at the time and bringing joy to his whole team. It was much needed winner for Bank side who are now unbeaten in the Premier League J&K so far after having played three matches. With two matches to play Bank is on its way to qualify for second round.
Aakif who has previously played in I-League second division and being one of the leading goal scorers their, is leading Premier League goal scoring charts with six goals.
Shafqat of JKPDC is at second place with two goals while as all other goal scorers stand at third place with one goal each.
From Bank, Waris and Gautam have scored one each.
Hyder and Salah have scored one goal each from PDC side while as Zahid, Harpreer and Naish have scored one each for Real Kashmir FC.
Shakir is lone goal scorer from Downtown Heroes FC while as Kashmir Avengers has Farhan Pathan, Kelvin and Sakib with one goal each.
For Novelty FC Zahid Yaqoob has scored one goal while as for Arco FC Mehraj has scored one goal.
