Srinagar, August 14: Abdul Samad Thursday remarked that with pitches in UAE spin-supportive, he is confident of doing well in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) .

The Jammu cricketer, who will feature for Sunrisers Hyderabad, said he was a bit disappointed with the league getting postponed earliet this year due to the coronavirus outbreak.

“It was a little disappointing to see the league getting postponed due to pandemic but that time there was no option left and it was the right decision made by BCCI. Personally I was ready to play and show to the world what I have got and make a name for myself. At that time I was in good form coming back from doing well in Ranji Trophy for J&K senior side,” Samad told Greater Kashmir.

Now, with the cash-rich league finally scheduled to go ahead from September 19 at UAE, the young all-rounder is elated.

“It is a known fact that pitches in UAE are slow and turning and help slow bowlers. I play spin well and in those conditions I can also contribute with the ball for my team,” He said.

The only J&K cricketer set to feature in this year’s IPL had an unreal last Ranji Trophy season, helping his team reach the quarter-finals of the mega event.

He is a tremendous timer of the ball, known for hitting those big sixes. Additionally, he could roll his arms and bowl slow leg-breaks.
