Srinagar, September 01: Jammu and Kashmir’s Abdul Samad, expressing his gratitude to be a part of IPL, said five years down the line, had someone told him he would be playing with players like David Warner, Kane Williamson, etc, he would have laughed.
The teenager, after impressing in domestic cricket, earned a contract from Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL Auction earlier this year. The right-handed explosive batsman continued his golden run in the Ranji Trophy, hence becoming a talent-to-watch.
He is currently in UAE, preparing alongside veteran cricketers like David Warner, Kane Williamson and others for the upcoming IPL. Warner is the skipper of franchise while Williamson is his deputy.
“Five years ago, if someone had told me I would be playing with big players like David Warner, Kane Williamson, Manish Pandey, I would have laughed,” Sunrisers Hyderabad quoted Samad as saying.
The Jammu native is the only J&K cricketer who will be featuring in IPL 2020, which begins from September 19 at UAE.
