Srinagar, October 26: Anantnag Reds Monday defeated Anantnag Blues to win the inter-district cricket tourney at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, here.

Aqib Mir played a vital knock in the chase to see his team through. He was well supported by Jasif Hassan from the other end.

Earlier, batting first, Anantnag Blues made an average total of 219 runs in the alloted 40 overs. Mohsin Mufti top-scored with 71 runs while Hanan Mir also contributed 58 runs to the total.

In reply, the Reds side found no trouble in chasing it down as Aqib Mir looked in top touch with the bat for his 70 odd runs. Jasif Hassan, who made 48 runs off 21 balls, gave the finishing touch to the innings.

The tourney was hosted by Srinagar Cricket Association and saw participation from all districts of Kashmir province.
