Southampton, Aug 25: England senior pacer and legend James Anderson was left stranded on career Test wicket haul of 599 while as Pakistan still trail England by 210 after following on as the bad light stopped play on the fourth day of the Third test between England and Pakistan at Southampton.
In its second inning after following on, Pakistan scored 100 runs for two wickets with Azhar Ali and Babar Azam not out for 29 and 4 runs respectively.
England enforced the follow-on after Pakistan fell for 273, 310 runs behind in reply of 583-8. Resuming follow-on, Pakistan were off to a good start with Shan Masood and Abid Ali but they couldn’t continue for long. They scored 49 runs together before Shan Masood fell to Suart Broad. Masood scored 18 runs.
Abid and Azhar carried the inning well for Pakistan as they scored 39 runs together. Abid fell prey to Anderson who is now just a wicket away to complete his 600 Test wickets.
Azhar (29) and Babar (4) will resume the inning for Pakistan on day 5.
England is leading three matches Test series 1-0. With rain in forcast on the fifth day as well, it would worth watching watching how Pakistan batsman will approach their game and can they save match as outcome looks unlikely.
James Anderson who has been superb in this match would be looking to reach the 600 wicket milestone and created history by becoming first pacer to achieve that feat.
