Srinagar, February 01: With the support from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the work on the state of the art Cricket Academy of J&K Cricket Association at Sheri-Kashmir Cricket Stadium Sonwar is going to restart soon.

JKCA CEO Syed Ashqiue Hussain Bukhari recently attended a meeting with BCCI officials at BCCI office in Mumbai in which various issues pertaining to JK cricket were discussed.J&K ranji trophy

Among the various issues was restarting of work on pending cricket academy. This academy can solve the various problems that J&K cricketers are facing from decades. The work on the academy had come to standstill soon after the multi-crore scandal hit JKCA.

“We raised the issue that there is need for the cricket academy in State and the work should restart on that. We made officials aware that structure base is almost complete and it needs immediate attention on part of the BCCI. In return BCCI assured us full support and gave its nod for the restarting of its work,” Bukhari said.

He said that BCCI also approved release of new state of the art gymnasium equipment for Srinagar and Jammu.

“In Srinagar the equipments had got affected due to 2014 floods. We raised that issue and BCCI immediately gave its nod for the new equipments for both the provinces,” he said.

The meeting was chaired by BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, BCCI, GM-Administration & Game Development Prof Ratnakar Shetty, along other officials as well.

During the meeting BCCI also gave its nod to release all the pending liability of J&K cricketers that includes match fees, TA, DA.

“We went to Mumbai to make BCCI aware about our immediate issues that needed to be redressed as soon as possible. We got positive response from BCCI who showed keenness for the development of cricket in J&K,” Bukhari said.

 “Our major issue was releasing of pending liabilities that involved cricketers match fees, TA, DA. Our players were facing lot of hardships in absence of early release of their money and BCCI today said it will release all the pending liability of JK cricketers shortly,” he said.
