Sopore, November 18: An all-round show by Hanief on Thursday steered Handawara Cricket Club (HCC) Blues to a dominating win against Shopian Strikers in the ongoing Champions Cup, here.
Batting first, HCC posted a par total of 142 runs on board. Ahmed Bilal was the stand-out batter, scoring 44 off 35. Hanief also contributed 29-ball 32 runs to the total. For bowling side, Mudasir picked three while Nadeem scalped two wickets.
In reply, thanks to some fine bowling by Handwara, Shopian never looked in the game. They lost wickets from the word go, ending up bundling out for meagre 60 runs to hand over a mighty 82-run win to HCC.
Hanief bowled a brilliant spell of 2-1-3-5, however, the major damage was done by Sheikh Junaid and Mehraj Rasool. The former took two while latter ended up with one wicket under his tally.
Hanief, for his all-round performance, was named player of the match.
Meanwhile in the second match of the tournament on Thursday, HCC Handwara thrashed Friends XI Sopore by 147 runs.
