CK Nayudu Trophy (U25): J&K ends tour with win against Tripura

Srinagar, April 08: Brilliant batting display by wicketkeeper batsman, Shivansh Sharma, superb all-round show by Sahil Lotra and Lone Nasir Muzaffar, coupled with good show by Taizeem Younis Tak and Musaif Ajaz guided Jammu and Kashmir to a big win by 6 wickets over Tripura in the CK Nayudu Under-25 Boys Trophy at Karnail Singh Stadium, New Delhi on Friday.

While chasing a meagre total, resuming from an overnight score of 24/0, J&K managed to score the required runs easily in overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 6 wickets.

Henan Nazir top scored with 44 runs off 61 balls including 7 boundaries, while Musaif Ajaz contributed unbeaten 37 runs off 18 balls, studded with 7 fours and one six. Arya Thakur also scored 26 runs off 30 balls with 5 boundaries.

For Tripura SS Ghosh bagged 2 wickets, while Arjun Debnath and Parvez Sultan claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, in the first innings Tripura had scored 279 with opener Bikram Kumar Das scoring 112 runs and skipper Sridam Paul contributing 59 runs. Sahil Lotra and Abid Mushtaq had captured 4 wickets each.

In reply, J&K in their first innings scored 300 runs, thus gaining a vital lead of 21 runs. Shivansh Sharma had top scored with magnificent 91 runs off 222 balls, studded with 10 delectable boundaries, while Sahil Lotra scored 77 off 167 balls with 8 boundaries. Henan Nazir (35), Lone Nasir Muzaffar (33) and skipper Shubham Singh Pundir (26) were the other contributors.

For Tripura, AS Sarkar was the pick of the bowlers who took 4 wickets, while Arjun Debnath bagged 3 and AA Das claimed 2 wickets.

Tripura in the second essay bundled out for paltry 151 runs, thus setting a target of 131 runs for J&K. Bikram Kumar Das top scored with 43 runs, while skipper Sridam contributed 34 runs to the total. Lone Nasir Muzaffar was the wrecker-in-chief for J&K, who took 4 wickets by conceding 20 runs in his 10 overs, while Taizeem Younis Tak captured 3 wickets and Abid Mushtaq claimed one.

While chasing a small total of 131 runs, J&K were 24 for no loss at stumps on day-3 yesterdy. Arya Thakur (17) and Nipun Verma (05) were at the crease.

Needing just 107 more runs to win with all the wickets in hand, J&K completed the formality today.
