Having held its last edition in 2015, some of the Downtown Champions League (DCL) T20 league franchisee teams are yet to pay cricketers their bid amount.

Though there have been allegations against the franchisee sides that they have not paid money to the players but none came forward.

Talking to KSW known seasoned cricketer Zahoor Sofi and another cricketer Hazik Bhat revealed that they have not got single penny from their team owners.

Zahoor Sofi played for Team Adliefe Stars in the event and was their icon player with bid price of rupees 27,000 while as Hazik also played for same franchisee with bid price of rupees 25,000.Khyber DCL

“DCL is mega event as players see it as platform to showcase their talent and earn something out of it. But with this kind of approach by team owners, players may opt to not play this event,” said Zahoor Sofi.

Hazik Bhat said, “My bid price was 25000 but I was not paid even a penny”.

When contacted CEO DCL, Naseer Ahmad said, “It’s absolutely undone that players were not paid their bid amount by team owners. I was myself owner of Elegant Strikers and I have paid all the amount to players. DCL is a platform for players to play high level cricket and team owners should respect the aim of the tournament”.

“We will send a notice to all team owners who have not paid amount to players. Also in future DCL management will pay the amount to players,” he added.
