Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won hearts across the globe with his dazzling batting and gentlemanly behavior in the past several years. His humbleness has often helped him rise above the usual stardom a cricketer lives with.
This quality was evident when the former India skipper when he was playing with Imran Tahir’s son. The South African legspinner’s son got the Indian captain to sit on the floor of an airport and play with him.
Tahir and Dhoni are both part of the Rising Pune Supergiant franchise in the Indian Premier League and have been pretty handy so far. While Dhoni smashed a fifty to help Rising Pune Supergiant beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in a last-ball thriller, Tahir has managed to take 17 wickets to stay second on the list of the highest wicket-takers this season.
After starting the campaign with three losses in four games, Rising Pune Supergiant have won four out of their last five games. They are comfortably in third spot and are favorites to qualify for the play-offs for the first time.
Such gestures have often helped Dhoni impress his fans. During the quarterfinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy earlier this year, a fan had ran onto the ground evading the security just to get an autograph from ‘Captain Cool’. The security personnel tried to take him away from the pitch to let play continue but Dhoni obliged the fan’s request and signed him an autograph. The fan had fallen on Dhoni’s feet before being escorted away.
