Srinagar, December 02: Most states have shown less interest in premiere Ranji Trophy and opted to choose white-ball cricket as BCCI had earlier given four options to state units for the 2020-21 Domestic Season.
The options included: Only Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20s), Only Ranji Trophy (Days), Both SMA and Ranji Trophy, and Both SMA and Vijay Hazare Trophy (one-days). As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, most sstates have chosen the last option viz Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
States including Saurashtra, Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Baroda and Punjab are among those who have gone with white-ball cricket. However, states like Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Andhra and Vidarbha have shown interest in playing Ranji Trophy.
The BCCI has given 2nd December as the deadline to state units for the submission of their choices, following which a final decision will be taken.
