Making it clear that Pakistan Cricket Board has to follow all the SOP’s for the upcoming tour, England and Wales Cricket Board has made it clear that no Pakistan COVID-19 Positive player would be allowed to enter United Kingdom.
ECB on Friday in its statement confirmed that Pakistan’s squad will arrive in England on Sunday [June 28] to play three Tests and as many T20Is in August and September. However, the hosts have clarified that only players, tested negative for COVID-19, will be travelling with the squad.
“All members of the tour party will have been tested prior to travel. Those who are testing positive for COVID-19 will not be permitted to travel with the advance group on Sunday,” the press release read.
“They will start a 14-day isolation period at Blackfinch New Road, Worcester before transferring to Derbyshire’s The Incora County Ground on Monday 13 July to accelerate their preparation ahead of the first Test, which will include two four-day internal warm-up matches,” it added
Pakistan team is scheduled to depart for England on June 28 via chartered plan. A squad of 23 players instead of 29 is likely to travel to UK after 10 players tested positive for COVID-19.
Fakhar Zaman, Imran Khan, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Rizwan, Wahab Riaz, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali and Shadab Khan had tested positive for the widely-spread virus. All these players have gave another sample for Test on Friday.
Meanwhile, reserve players including Imran Butt, Mohammad Nawaz, Muhammad Musa, Rohail Nazir and Bilal Asif had also been tested for the virus as they are likely to join the team in place of COVID-19 positives, based on their results.
