Bandipora, July 7: A swashbuckling fifty on a not-so-decent batting track by Faisal Farooq Tuesday helped Friends XI win the Janwara Cricket Tourney.
After being told to field first by CR XI, Friends XI managed to keep the openers silent despite their various upish attempts.
CR XI made sure to not give away any wickets in the power-play. However, as the field restrictions were lifted, Friends XI bowlers started ruling the road.
Adnan Shafi was the first wrecker-in-chief before he was joined by the spin-duo of Tawkeer and Azhar Amin. The tweakers not only stopped the flow of runs but scalped wickets on regular intervals.
Lastly, CR XI could only make 102 runs in the given 20 overs.
In reply, as the Friends XI batsmen walked to the park, it seemed they are playing on an entirely different track. Opener Faisal Farooq struck boundaries, one after another, leaving the opposition shell-shocked.
The Bandipora-cricketer was well supported by Mohsin, who made 30-run cameo, to lead Friends XI to an easy win of 9 wickets.
Faisal remained unbeaten on 59 runs, earning him the man of the final award. Urooj, the forefront seamer from Bandipora, was named bowler of the tournament while as Sameer bagged man of the tournament.
