LocalIFC Nowgam lifts B-division league title

IFC Nowgam won the final match of B-Division league in the ongoing State Football League-2017, defeating Noorbagh FC by 2-1 in the closely contest final played at Synthetic Turf TRC on Thursday.

The other two matches included A-Division encounter between Novelty FC and Court Road FC which ended in a goal less draw while in Super Division match Real Kashmir FC defeated State Football Academy (SFA) by two goal to nil.football1

The final match of B-Division turned out a mouth watering encounter between two balanced teams – IFC Nowgam and Noorbagh FC. A large number of football fans had gathered to witness the final and they were delighted by the quality of football both the teams played. Right from the word go, IFC Nowgam and Noorbagh FC forward line attacked each others goal posts, but it was Ummer Farooq of IFC team who in 27th minute of the match managed to open the account for his team.

Ishfaq Ahmad doubled the lead for the winning team in the 47th minute of the match. However, despite conceding a lead of two goals, Noorbagh players didn’t stop to attack the rival goal post. In 68th minute of the play, Dawood scored a goal for Noorbagh and final minutes of the match were mouth watering as IFC Nowgam team defenders kept the rival players at bay and didn’t allow them to score an equaliser. When the referee blew the final whistle the score line read 2-1 in favour of IFC Nowgam. With this IFC Nowgam emerged winners of the B-Division League.

Meanwhile, the State Football League, a mega event first of its kind in the history of J&K football, is going on at different venues of the state with full swing drawing huge crowds to the football venues. More than 500 football teams and clubs with over 12000 players and over 1500 team officials are participating in the mega event, the aim of which is to unearth the hidden talent across the State.

The event is being held across the 22 districts of the state these days and is being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) under the auspices of State Sports Council and on the directions of All India Football Federation (AIFF).
