Srinagar: Hosts India registered highest ever margin victory in the mens cricket ODI history as they defeated Sri Lanka by 317 runs on Sunday.
The Virat Kohli special followed by stunning bowling display helped India record a stunning 317-run victory in Thiruvananthapuram in the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka on Sunday to complete a 3-0 series victory.
After threatening the 400-run mark for the second time in the series, India produced a stirring bowling display to end Sri Lanka’s innings at 73 runs.
One batter down after Ashen Bandara’s injury, Sri Lanka succumbed to a record-breaking 317-run loss in the final ODI.
This is the highest margin of victory in any men’s ODI and the first time any team has won a men’s ODI by over 300 runs. The record in women’s ODIs is a 408-run win by New Zealand over Pakistan in 1997.
