Srinagar, October 17: India’s domestic season will start from January 01, 2021, Sourav Ganguly, the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India President said on Saturday.

Ganguly said they have had discussions on the upcoming domestic season as Covid-19 made it impossible to get the season started on time.

“We have had extensive discussions on domestic cricket and we have tentatively decided to start the competitions from January 1, 2021,” Ganguly told PTI.

The season, however, will be a curtailed one with Ranji Trophy going to be the top priority.

“We will certainly have the full-fledged Ranji Trophy. [But] it will probably not be possible to hold all tournaments,” Ganguly said.

He further said that BCCI have plans for age-group and women’s cricket as well.

“We also have elaborate plans for our age-group and women’s cricket. We will start with the Ranji Trophy and then we will also have the other tournaments between March and April.” He said.
