Srinagar, May 04: With increasing number of COVID-19 cases among players and support staff, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has been suspended indefinitely.
As per reports Delhi Capitals spinner Amit Shah and Sunrisers Hyderabad wicket-keeping batsman Wriddhiman Saha also tested postive. That makes a total of 4 players in three different franchises infected.
Add Balaji of CSK to it and that’s 4 camps with active Covid-19 cases currently.
Taking note of the rising cases and the breach of bio-bubble, the BCCI Tuesday decided to suspend the tournament indefinitely.
“The BCCI does not want to compromise on the safety of the players, support staff and the other participants involved in organising the IPL,” BCCI said in a statement.
“This decision was taken keeping the safety, health and wellbeing of all the stakeholders in mind.”
