Latest UpdatesIPL: Rohit Sharma breaks stumps after LBW call, faces fine

Rohit Sharma, the Mumbai Indians skipper, was fined 15 per cent of his match fee after a breach of the Code Of Conduct in their game against Kolkata Knight Riders. Rohit, who was given out leg before in the fourth over on Sunday (April 28), broke the stumps after being adjudged.

He was charged under Level 1 of 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. Mumbai were in pursuit of a massive 233 and Rohit was off to a good start, belting three boundaries early on before being given out to an attempted hoick that he missed off Harry Gurney.

Replays showed that the ball was just clipping leg stump as Rohit reviewed the decision. He made his displeasure obvious, having a couple of words with the umpire and then breaking the stumps with his bat. He accepted the sanction.

Mumbai Indians went on to lose the game by 34 runs in the end, despite a blistering knock from Hardik Pandya, and have 14 points from 12 games. They play their last two matches of the league stage at home, against KKR and Sunrisers Hyderabad. They still need one win to ensure playoffs qualification.
