Srinagar, May 11: Mumbai Indian’s fielding coach James Pamment has said that Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 bio bubble felt safe but there were some senior Indian players who did not like restrictions .

IPL was suspended on May 4 after multiple cases of COVID-19 Postive cases surfaced inside teams.

Speaking to stuff.co.nz, Pamment without making anyone or elaborating much said that some senior Indian players did not like to subjected to restrictions inside bubble.

“Some of the senior Indian guys don’t like being restricted and told what to do,” he was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.

But New Zealand official said that he felt it completely safe inside the bio bubble created for the league.

“But we did feel safe – at no point did we feel the bubble would be compromised … We felt the travel was always going to be a challenge,” he said.

“It was when cases started to come with the teams. They were a little more fearful, a little more apprehensive,” said the 52-year-old, who returned home on Saturday.

“Chennai (CSK) announced their cases and we’d played Chennai at the weekend, so straight away, the dynamic changed. I certainly noticed from within my group. I’d spend most of my time with the Kiwis and the Aussies, their mindset had changed.

“We started to get Indian guys in our environment whose families were sick. There were bereavements as well and we were taking a bit of a cue from those guys who were saying, ‘no, we want to carry on’, and the messages were coming back that this is a good distraction.”

He said to have event at multiple venues was not right decision .

“If it (IPL) had been held solely in Mumbai, perhaps it’d have been easily managed, but once cases rise in Mumbai, you’re looking at ground staff, you’re looking at different service-type people that it’s going to be hard to manage,” he said.

He also pointed out that BCCI allowing 70000 fans to witness match when India played against England was irresponsible .

“It was a little irresponsible and now Ahmedabad is a hot-bed of COVID”.
