Former Indian all-rounder and J&K Cricket team mentor has termed batsman Shubham Khajuria as J&K’s best batsman and has compared him with former Team India and Chennai Super Kings batsman Ambati Rayudu.
Pathan said this in an Instagram chat with star cricketer Suresh Raina. He talked about several incidents, including his stint with the J&K team.
The former all-rounder said there is no dearth of talent in the erstwhile state and named some of the players, he thinks can make it big.
“If J&K cricket has to taste success in the future, then there is no better leader than Shubham Pundir. Shubham Khajuria is the best batsman in the state. He is the second Rayadu (Ambati Rayudu). Salim Mustafa (Mujtaba Yousuf) and Rasikh Salam have great future ahead,” Pathan said.
The Baroda-born cricketer joined J&K team season before last one as player cum mentor. However, he opted to only mentor the side last season as the southpaw announced retirement from all forms of cricket, earlier this year.
The 24-year old Shubham Khajuria has represented J&K in 51 first class matches in which he has scored 3001 runs with an average of 32.97. He has scored five centuries and 19 fifties with the highest of 139.
In List A , Khajuria has played 42 matches scoring 1027 runs with the average of 25.04. He has scored two centuries and five fifties with the best of 127. In T20 Khajuria has played 24 matches scoring 526 runs with the average of 25.04. He has scored three fifties with the best of 73*.
Comparatively Shubham Khajuria’s stats are impressive and Irfan Pathan comparing him with talented and top batsman like Ambati Rayudu is huge. Pathan has also termed him J&K’s best batsman which is another big applaud from the J&K mentor .
Khajuria needs to shoulder the burden of J&K team, carry on, and lead to much bigger achievements in future.
