Srinagar: Have you ever wondered how would J&K Ranji Trophy team appear five years from now?

When there won’t be Parvez Rasool showing his all-round brilliance and Mohammad Mudhasir hitting the pitch hard, who would be the players donning the J&K jersey?

In this piece, we look at some of the familiar faces, who could serve the J&K cricket in years to come.

Openers

Qamran Iqbal

When it comes to young batting talent, Qamran Iqbal surely is the first name that pops up in our mind. He, without any doubt, will be opener of J&K’s future Ranji Trophy team.

Vivrant Sharma, the southpaw from Jammu, is another player to watch. He could roll his arm as well, hence making him a compact player.

Middle Order

At number three, Musaif Aijaz, is the best match one can ask for. He has already proven his worth at the age-group level.

Haziq Bhat, a rear left-handed Kashmiri batsman, with a magnanimous talent could surely serve J&K cricket for a long time. He owns strong temperament and technique, which are most important for a longer-version player.

At number five, the explosive batter, Abdul Samad, will lead the batting challenge. He probably needs no introduction as we have seen enough of him.

Wicket-keeper and All-rounder

Kanhaiya Wadhawan

Kanhaiya Wadhawan, a special talent who has made plenty of runs at U-19 level, will keep the wickets. Having had a good outing as captain at age-group level, the right-handed batsman is also a top candidate to lead the side.

The north Kashmir cricketer, Nasir Lone, who is known for his distinctive skills with both bat and ball, shall play the role of all-rounder in the team.

Bowlers

Rasikh Salam and Mujtaba Yousuf

Taizeem Tak, a tweaker from south Kashmir, has shown a lot of promise in the recent past. He will be the lead spinner.

Left-arm seamer, Mujtaba Yousuf, who made his Ranji Trophy debut last season, is a future prospect without any doubt.

He will be given company by none other than Rasikh Salam. He is fast and can swing the cricket ball very well.

Shahrukh Dar, the fiery Srinagar pacer, will be the third-seamer in team. He has all the ingredients that a bowler needs to serve J&K for a long time.

So, the team sums up as:

Qamran Iqbal
Vivrant Sharma
Musaif Aijaz
Haziq Bhat
Abdul Samad
Kanhaiya Wadhwan (C & WK)
Nasir Lone
Mujtaba Yousuf
Taizeem Tak
Rasikh Salam
Shahrukh Farooq
