Top woman Kashmiri cricketer Jasia Akhtar who plays for Punjab in National cricket arena has participated in high performance coaching camp at Just cricket academy Bangalore.
The camp started on June 10 and concluded on June 15. It was being held under the watchful eyes of former Indian Women’s cricket team player and Coach Anju Jain and others. The camp was of five days of intense skill development and mentoring of the players who are there from different parts of India.Jasia

It was first ever women high performance camp being held in Country and Jasia is part of it. During the camp selection of players for the Australian women’s Big Bash T20 competition would also be held.

“I got to know about camp from coach Abida and then Coach Roopali Slathia made efforts sothat I would be part of it. It is not every day camp but a first ever high performance coaching programe being held under India’s top woman cricketers,” Jasia said.

“Every day we used to train for eight hours with video analyses being done. They analyzed our play and then taught us how to rectify loopholes. There is specific emphasis on fitness,” she said.

About the selection for Big Bash T20, she said, “From last year Indian women cricketers have been allowed by BCCI to take part in Big Bash T20. During this camp, coaches would shortlist five to six players who will be going to Australia for next season’s Big Bash”.

“I am trying my best to impress coaches that I have in it me to play in league like Big Bash. So far I am able to do well and I hoping for the best,” she added.

Coach Abida Khan praised, Jasia and said that she deserves to be in the camp and also in Big Bash.

“She is hard working player who likes to perform on the field. Roopali made her way into the camp and now it is upto Jasia to impress coaches. I am confident that she did well in the camp and will go on to play in Big Bash,” Abida said. ( Source Greater Kashmir)
