SRINAGAR, JULY 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police is organising State Level Kashmir Marathon “Run for Peace” on July 30, 2017 under its Civic Action Programme (CAP).

While addressing a Press Conference at Police Golf Course here today, the DGP Dr. S.P Vaid said that to strengthen the relations with the people, particularly the youth and provide an opportunity to the sports persons to showcase their latent talent, Kashmir Marathon “Run for Peace”, with an over Rs. three lakh prize money is being organizedon Sunday. He said that it has been the endeavour of the Jammu and Kashmir Police to maintain good relations with the public and over the years it has been organising various programmes under CAP to achieve this goal. He said that as a part of such an initiative the J&K Police is keen on organizing various sports activities for the youth in the valley and this would be the first of the many events that have been planned for this summer.DGP Press Conference reg. The DGP said that such events generate tremendous interest among the youth, which in turn help in channelizing the young minds in a positive direction. Furthermore, it also helps in spreading awareness among the people about the importance of staying fit through various physical activities, including running.

The DGP said that apart from proving its mettle in fighting militancy and handling crucial law and order situations, the J&K Police has made a name for itself in the field of Sports too. He said that many of its personnel have won laurels both at the national and international levels. J&K Police has always encouraged its personnel to remain fit through participation in various games and sports events. It has successfully hosted various national level sports events.

A similar event, “Run for Fun” held in Jammu in March this year, was a huge success with more than 3000 people participating across all age groups.
