Srinagar, July 24: Though officially All India Football Federation (AIFF) has named only top three States in its performance assessment for States, reports have ranked J&K at ninth place in the list of States.

While some reports have termed the assessment as the rankings for the States but other reports have termed it a ranking for only 11 State units who are part of the programe. In that regard J&K ranks ninth amoung 11 State Units, only two place above from bottom.

“Based on the points accumulated for the 2019/20 football season, West Bengal governed by The Indian Football Association (The IFA) ranks the highest followed by Maharashtra under Western Indian Football Association (WIFA) ranking second and Kerala under Kerala Football Association (KFA) ranking third. The points allotted to the states are based on the activities carried out by the governing associations under the aforementioned verticals with each vertical weighted accordingly.All three states had Development Officers deputed and funded by AIFF, ” AIFF statement while naming three top State units read.

As the assesment rankings came out, the top 10 list started to make rounds on Social Media. Seeing that happening AIFF came out with its official statement saying no such top 10 rankings were issued by them.

“The All India Football Federation (AIFF) would like to clarify that the Performance assessments of State Associations based on various operational verticals have been done on two separate grounds consisting of states under the Development Project and those outside of it, ” AIFF statement clarified.

“The rankings along with the performance of the states will be discussed during the next Annual General Body Meeting with State Associations. There has been no official release of any such rankings from AIFF for all the states except for declaring the top three performers under the Development project as mentioned in a release dated July 23, 2020,” It added.
