J&K Squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy

FeatureExclusiveJ&K Squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy

Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has finalised a 16-member squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy (One-days), sources informed KSW on Tuesday.

The squad is set to travel to Delhi for some preparatory matches before heading to Mumbai, the Elite Group ‘A’ venue.

Most of the players in the squad have been retained from the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy group, where J&K lost 6 out of the 7 games. The team is again expected to be led by underfire Shubham Pundir while Abdul Samad will be his deputy.

The major highlight of the squad is that senior campaigner Parvez Rasool is missing out. KSW understands that he had not been able to attend the trial camp due to personal reasons.

Nasir Lone, who got little chances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, has also been left out. Pacer Sharukh Dar, however, has earned a maiden call-up to the team. He was in the scheme of things for a long time.

Musaif Ajaz, a young batter from Jammu, will also feature in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time. Yudhvir Singh, who returned with dismal numbers in Syed Mushtaq Ali, continues to be a part of the team.

Another member among new entrants is all-rounder Sahil Lotra. Young wicket-keeper Shivansh Sharma, who was a part of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy squad, has retained his place while talented Suryansh Raina continues to stay out.
