Srinagar, March 16: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) is going to hold a preparatory trial camp for Senior Women T20s from March 21 at Jammu.
Around 26 players have been called for the camp, including some ‘surprise’ picks. The probable list comprises of 10 players from Kashmir and 16 from Jammu division.
Some of the players from these 26 haven’t appeared in any of the tournaments or trial camps held this year while some “deserving” ones have been left out.
“Bizarre and full of surprises kind of selection continues to halt J&K women’s cricket. There are some players in probable list who didn’t attend any camp this year and some of the best T20 players have been left out,” a former cricketer, wishing not to be named, said.
“Also, the disparity between Jammu and Kashmir continues under current regime of JKCA. They select 70 or sometimes 80 percent players from Jammu and only 20 to 30 percent from Kashmir,” another cricketer said.
KSW tried reaching Surabhi Dadheechi, chairperson senior women’s selection committee, to know the thought process behind the selection of these probables but she said they were not authorised to talk to media.
“I suggest you to kindly get in touch with association office, which is in Jammu. You can speak to Brigadier Gupta regarding the same and if there’s a complaint, he is the right person to the address the same,” she said.
“I’m not authorised to answer or reply to anything because as per the association rules, we are not allowed,” she added.
