Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association is all set to start its second edition of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Premier League with around 1300 teams across Valley expected to take part in the tournament.
The tourney will kickstart at Baramulla from tomorrow, Saturday, while other districts will follow in the coming days. The 40-over event was introduced by JKCA last year in first of its kind initiative.
It became a huge success with players like Rasikh Salam making their way to the big stage by excelling in this tournament. Salam, who is presently playing for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League, came into the spotlight last year after he produced some scintillating performances in the Kulgam-leg of the tournament.
Apart from him, several players from places like Kupwara, Shopian and other far-flung arears were introduced to the higher level cricket as this event provided them an opportunity to showcase their skills.
J&K’s mentor cum player, Irfan Pathan also mentioned the role of this event in unveiling new talent. Subsequently, the Administrators driven JKCA decided to continue the evenr this season as well with almost double participation of teams in Kashmir province only.
An official while giving details to KSW said that around 1300 teams are going to take part across Valley in this event. It also confirmed that tourney will begin at Baramulla from tomorrow onwards.
