Baramulla, April 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association organised tournament kickstarted on Saturday at Baramulla’s Pattan with Star XI pipping KCC united in the inaugural match.

The 40-over competition was last year introduced by the cricket body and following its tremendous success, the second edition is expected to follow with almost double participants.

Meanwhile, in the first match of this year’s edition, an all-round show by Star XI Pattan helped them cruise past KCC United by 4 wickets.

Batting first, KCC was bundled out on paltry 128 runs in 27.2 overs with Irfan and Gulzar scoring 35 and 27, respectively.

In reply, Star XI though lost a few wickets but lastly, chased down the target with ease. Faisal and Nazakat scored 31 and 42 runs as Stars finished the match in just 18 overs.

The tournament is likely to start in other districts of Kashmir valley as well within some days.
