Srinagar, December 20: J&K Football Association (JKFA) has congratulated Real Kashmir FC for creating history by winning prestigious IFA Shield Football tournament in Kolkatta on Saturday.

Real Kashmir FC on Saturday lifted the 123rd IFA Shield Football tournament title by defeating George Telegraph Sports Club by 2-1 in the final played at Salt Lake stadium.

“Real Kashmir Boys exhibited quality Football and dominated the show. They created history by winning this prestigious tournament of the Country. The Goal keeper of Real Kashmir was superb in the Goal and saved a decisive Penalty which changed the fate of the match. The spectators applauded the efforts of the team to win the title. Mason Robertson was declared as the best footballer. Nigerian forward Lukman Adeferni as the highest scorer, ” JKFA statement read.

“Besides wining the IFA Shield RKFC was also awarded a fair play award trophy also. It is an honour for the UT that RKFC has defeated top clubs of the Country and clinched the title. JKFA congratulates the Chairman and the management of RKFC and the players for this magnificent win, ” Statement said.

JKFA also said that Real Kashmir FC sucess in National arena proves that J&K Football is in right direction.

“It speaks Volumes about the Development of the Game in the UT for which the organizers & fraternity of Footballers deserve commendation. JKFA will always try & look forward for the development & promotion of the game & explore the possibility of participation of the teams in other top Tournaments of the Country, ” It said.
