CricketKaloosa XI pips Magnipora as Parvez Rasool inaugurates JKCA tourney in Bandipora

Bandipora, May 4: Kaloosa XI pipped Magnipora as Parvez Rasool on Saturday inaugurated Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association’s Talent Hunt tourney at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora.

The only international cricketer from the state alongside renowned coach, Mushtaq Rather had a word of gesture with players before the match got underway.

Kaloosa XI, batting first posted 134 runs on board, largely due to a fine knock of 65 runs by Parvez Ahmad. For bowling side, Farooq and Bilal picked a brace each.

In reply, Magnipora batters couldn’t resist to disciplined bowling line-up of Kaloosa as they were bundled out on 62 runs. Tawseef shone with the ball as the seamer scalped a five-wicket-haul, helping Kaloosa XI earn a big win of 72 runs.

Parvez Rasool while addressing players of both the teams said that making it big for somebody from a far-flung area is no more ‘impossible’. The Jammu and Kashmir skipper also presented the example of Rasikh Salam who is presently playing for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League.

He remarked that when he can make it to IPL from Kulgam, why can’t others.

Meanwhile, Bandipora Cricket Association president, Saleem Jahangir received the guests and introduced them to the teams.

The tournament is an initiative taken by JKCA to nurture talent from all the 22 districts of state. After pulling a large success last year, the tournament made its second entry this year.
