Srinagar, May 26: Green Valley Educational Institute Elahi Bagh defeated Delhi Public School (DPS) Budgam by 8-wickets in the opening encounter of the Kashmir Harvard U-16 inter-School cricket tournament at TRC Ground Srinagar on Saturday.
The tournament organized by State Cricket Academy of J&K State Sports Council in collaboration with Amblin is having 16 school teams participating in it. The event was organized last week by International cricketer Parvez Rasool.
The opening match was played between Green Valley and DPS Budgam. Batting first DPS were not able to put a decent batting show as they got all out for 66 runs in 16.1 overs. Ameer Shabir with three wickets was pick of the bowlers for Green Valley. In reply Green Valley achieved the required target for the loss of only two wickets. With that Green Valley won match by 8-wickets. Ameer was adjudged as man of the match.
PDP Youth Wing Secretary and sports promoter Arif Laigaroo was guest at the closing ceremony alongwith cricketer Abid Nabi, Khan Gulzar and Director Amblin Hinan Manzoor.
Arif gave away man of the match award to the Ameer and hailed the event as the well panned and smoothly conducted one.
On Monday, RP School Malabagh would be playing against Vision School Malabagh. The event is sponsored by Kashmir Harvard, J&K Bank, Unibec Biscuits and Pure Max.
