Srinagar, 04 Dec 2020: An all women Cricket Tournament ‘Kashmir Women’s Premier League – 2020 (KWPL)’ was conducted with representation and participation by the female cricketers of six teams from all across Kashmir. “The tournament was organized and conducted under the aegis of Dagger Division of Chinar Corps in association with a local NGO Save Youth – Save Future”, a Army hand out said.
Handout further read that total of five matches were played in the tournament.

“The youth displayed immense energy and zest during the game. The final match was played on December 4- 2020 between Srinagar Warriors and Game Swingers in Jhelum Stadium, Baramulla, ” Handout said.

“Srinagar Warriors was declared champion of the tournament with Sadia declared women of the match. Overall Eqra Rasool was declared as women of the series. All the players of participating team were felicitated with Mementos and Participation Certificates, ” It further said.

“The event received an overwhelming response for the spectators as they gathered in huge numbers. The chief guest, in his address to the teams, encouraged the young players to utilize this golden opportunity not only to showcase their talents but also to imbibe some of the most important life lessons through the medium of sports. He stressed that the event will help in channelizing the energies of youth in a constructive manner & will also provide them a platform to showcase their sporting prowess, ” It further said.
“This unique endeavor will definitely send across a strong signal of ‘Women Empowerment’ among female cricketers of Kashmir especially from rural & far flung areas. It would also assist in enhancing paradigm shift in the socio-cultural dynamics of the region &will boost the spirits of the youth of the region, ” Statement added.
