Srinagar : The National Pencak Silat players  won three silver and seven bronze medals in the Junior World Pencak Silat Championship, which concluded on Saturday at Songkhla, Thailand.

The players from Kashmir, Saaliq Bin Farooq, Najmus Saqib, Toiba Mushtaq and Farheen Fayaz managed to grab bronze medals and maintained the 6th rank of Indian team in the overall Championship across the World.
The medalists from other states of India Palak Rajput, Lakshmi Malviya and Aakash Kumar Bairwa clinched silver medals for the country while as Gaurav Pandey, Nikita Sinha and Jasmine Grewal managed to earn bronze medals.
The team accompanied by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council Chief Sports Officer, Haji Abdul Qayoom as Chef De Mission, and Tariq Ahmad as Team Manager of Indian team.
Earlier, the Indian team underwent 20-days National Coaching camp, the first of its kind in Kashmir which was organized under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council.
Moreover, the team was flagged off on 21st April, by the Chairman North Zone Khadi and Village Commission, GOI, Dr. Hina Bhat.
Almost players aged 14-17 from 19 countries competed in the World Junior Pencak Silat Championship.
The Championship was organised by Pencak Silat Association of Thailand under the aegis of Thailand Olympic Committee and under the banner of International Pencak Silat Federation.
