Srinagar: The left handed all-rounder of J&K, Vivrant Sharma on Sunday became sixth player ever from J&K to play in IPL. Vivrant Sharma made his IPL 2023 debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur.

Earlier Vivrant Sharma was brought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs 2.60 crores in the IPL Auction 2023 held in Kochi.
The Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad got involved in intense bidding war for the Vivrant Sharma. The bid started from the base price of 20 lakhs for the uncapped J&K cricketer.
Steady raising of paddles at both KKR and SRH happened and in the end Vivrant went to SRH for 2.6 crore.
Vivrant Sharma is an aggressive left-handed opener who also bowls excellent legspin. He was a net bowler with Sunrisers last year, where he also impressed with his ability with the bat. Vivrant was recommended for trials by Abdul Samad, who had also suggested Umran Malik’s name to the franchise last year.

Vivrant Sharma in Vijay Hazare Trophy

On the back of brilliant performance by Vivrant Sharma, J&K this year created history by qualifying for the quater final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament.
In the eight matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vivrant Sharma went on to score, 395 runs with the average of 56.43.
His highest was 124-ball 154 against Uttarakhand, which helped Jammu and Kashmir earn its maiden knockouts berth in the history of the tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, he had top scored with a 62-ball 69 as J&K chased down a mammoth 343 against Ranji Trophy defending champion Madhya Pradesh.
In the highest scorers list in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Vivrant stood at 18th place while as in highest individual score list, he was at 13th place. In the average list , Vivrant finished at 52nd place, while as in the most sixes list stand at 18th place with 11 sixes. Vivrant stand at 9th place in most fours list with 50 fours in tournament.
Vivrant also took four wickets for J&K during the group stage.

Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy
In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Vivrant racked up 128 runs at a commendable strike rate of 145.45.

Debut and Career

Vivrant made his Domestic T20 debut vs Andhra at Vadodara on November 4, 2021. The 23-year-old has played 9 T20’s for J&K and has accumulated 191 runs at an average of 23.87 and a strike rate of 128.18 with his highest score being 63. With the ball in hand, Vivrant has scalped six wickets at an economy of 5.73. In List A cricket, Vivrant averages 39.92 in 14 matches with the highest score of 154*. He also has 8 wickets against his name.

With his inclusion in the IPL side now, Vivrant has become seventh cricketer from J&K to get into cash rich league. So far Parvez Rasool, Rasikh Salam, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik have played in IPL from J&K while as Manzoor Pandav and Yudhvir Singh were part of the teams but didn’t play.
