Srinagar, 26 June : Former J&K cricketer and now incharge of cricket affairs in Srinagar of J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) Majid Dar has assured cricketers of J&K that they will now get highest respect in JKCA.

Majid who represented J&K in first class cricket for more than a decade was put incharge of JKCA affairs in Srinagar by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He would be reporting to the three member sub-committee of MithunManhas, Anil Gupta and Sunil Sethi formed by BCCI for the JKCA affairs. The sub-committee has to report to a committee formed by BCCI which comprises SouravGanguly, Jay Shah, ArunDhumal and Rajeev Shukla.

The sub-committee has to look into day-to-day functioning of JKCA and at all times work under the supervision and control of the committee. Majid Dar assumed the charge at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Sonwar and said that his priority was to give all the talented cricketers the respect they deserve .

“I have been cricketer myself and I still play. I have special attachment with the game and I believe that cricketers need to get highest respect in JKCA. It is my aim and priority and I assure all my cricket colleagues that they will see total change as far as that goes,” Dar was quoted as saying by Greater Kashmir.

He was further quoted as saying that that this is a big responsibility and cricketers of Kashmir were looking at him with high hopes.

“It is a big responsibility on our shoulders and we will need to work really hard to develop J&K cricket and upgrade facilities for our cricketers,” he said.

Majid, who is known in local arena of J&K for helping youngsters and working with them at ground level, said that the development of infrastructure was his prime motive.

“I am a cricketer and have been associated with cricket all my life. I know what are the shortfalls and what is needed to be done. The development of infrastructure is a basic thing that has to be done and we will work on that from day one,” he said.

Majid, who has also previously served as J&K Cricket team assistant coach, said that JKCA was for cricketers and its doors would remain open for all the cricketers, at all the time.

“JKCA is of the cricketers and for the cricketers.Till I am here its doors will be open all the time for the all the cricketers. Players should feel free to contact me whenever they want,” he said.
