Srinagar: Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K continuing it’s sports activities of engaging youth across Kashmir division saw hundreds of boys and girls participating in different competitive sports activities and recreational sports on Monday. 

Central Kashmir

Central Kashmir May 29:  In light of India’s G20 Presidency/Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav & Anti Drug Awareness Programme, DYSSO Srinagar conducted a Padhyatra (Walkathon) witnessed a total participation of 450 boys of all the eight zones of Srinagar. Starting the Padhyatra, participants in presence of officials of DYSSO Srinagar and Escort teachers took a pledge on Anti Drug Movement. The Yatra was flagged off by Dr.Tassaduq Shafi BMO Srinagar heading the medical team in presence of the senior officers of DYSSO Srinagar. The Yatra passed through the different streets of Wazirbagh intensifying anti drug slogans throughout the route. The Yatra culminated at the compound of Youth Hostel.

District Youth Services and sports office Ganderbal Conducted selection trials in the discipline of Football in the age group of U/19 years at MM Stadium Ganderbal today on 29-05-2023 under the guidance and supervision of worthy DYSSO Ganderbal Mr. Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal. The event witnessed a total participation of 61 students from all the Zones of the District. Young Footballers showcased their Talent fiercely and were very Jubilant while participating in the said event. The DYSSO Ganderbal interacted with the student players and mentioned in his speech that sports has the power to change the world. Sports is the medium to bring National harmony and integration. The officer also gave his best wishes to the budding footballers for their selection. The senior Officials of the department being as the selectors were impartial while choosing the best out of the lot. 

Moreover Zone Kangan of the District conducted Inter-school Volleyball and Kabaddi for Boys and Girls of GHS Patiyarmuqam in which 40 boys and 36 girls’ student players participated with zeal and confidence. The Meritorious students were felicitated with well deserved medals after the culmination of the activity.

Similarly Zone Tullamulla of the District also conducted Intramural in the Discipline of Badminton and Table Tennis for both boys and girls of BHSS Batwina. The Events were inaugurated by the worthy Principal of BHSS Batwina along with the staff members. A Huge Number of students participated in the said events. The Winners were awarded with medals after the culmination of the event

Meanwhile the department of youth services and sports Budgam organized inter school zonal level events in various zones i.e. Beerwah, Magam, Dreygam and Budgam under the able guidance of the esteemed district youth services and sports officer, Mr. Balbir Singh Sodi. In this sequence, zone Beerwah organized Tenni koit for boys all age group at BMS Beerwah in which large number of students from different schools participated with great enthusiasm. Zone Magam has organized Tenikoit event (single and doubles) for boys u-14 and u/17 at lucent international school Magam. The inauguration of the said event was done by managing director of the said school Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Bhutoo. A Total of 99 students from different schools participated in this event. Zone Dreygam has organized today Tenni-koit for boy’s u/14 & u/17 years at Ms Palpora in which more than 70 students participated with great enthusiasm. The said event was inaugurated by concern Sarpanch Mr. Gh. Nabi shah, Deputy Sarpanch Mr. Mohammed sultan, Headmaster Mr. GH Ahmad Bhat MS Palpora along with activity in charge Mr. Farooq Sajad & overall in charge Aneeta Pandita.

Zone Budgam conducted Tenikoit event for girl’s u/14 and u/17 at GHS Ompora in which both private and Govt. institutions participated. The said event was inaugurated by worthy ZPEO Budgam Mr. Tariq Ahmad. The huge number participants participated in the said event.

NORTH KASHMIR

Department of Youth Services & Sports in North Kashmir Empowers Youth through Sports Activities

North Kashmir, J&K – May 29, 2023: The Department of Youth Services & Sports in three districts of North Kashmir – Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla – successfully organized a series of sports activities aimed at engaging and empowering the region’s youth. These events not only fostered a spirit of healthy competition but also promoted physical fitness, sportsmanship, and overall well-being among the participants.

In District Kupwara Youth Services & Sports J&K conducted various sports activities that attracted hundreds of young individuals to partake in diverse events. In the picturesque zone of Mawer, an Annual Road Race from BATAGUND to MS SHATGUND PAYEEN was organized, involving the participation of approximately 100 youths aged U-14, U-17, and U-19 from 32 government and private schools. Moreover, Zone Handwara facilitated sports activities specifically for tribal communities, conducted under the banner of Aazadi ka Amrut Mahautsav at Sadhu Ganga Khandi. Zone Sogam witnessed the inauguration of a Girls Volleyball Competition by DDC SOGAM Nasir Nazir Lone, with 16 teams from various institutions in Lolab actively participating. Finally, the district headquarters hosted a Yoga Event at BHS Nutnussa, promoting the physical and mental well-being of the attendees.

In Bandipora, the Department of Youth Services & Sports joined forces with the ISM Department to organize a spectacular Yoga event. Against the magnificent backdrop of the Harmukh mountains at the SK Stadium, approximately 150 students and officials from various schools in Bandipora came together to participate enthusiastically. The serene surroundings and breathtaking scenery added to the natural ambiance, allowing participants to connect with their inner selves and experience the benefits of Yoga firsthand. This collaboration aimed to introduce the young minds of Bandipora to the myriad advantages of Yoga and its positive impact on holistic health and wellness.

In the district of Baramulla, the Department of Youth Services & Sports engaged hundreds of youths in various sports activities. Zone Singhpora Kalan and Zone Uri conducted a Yoga Event at their respective zonal headquarters, attracting students from across the zones. Additionally, Zone Nehalpora organized a Walkathon event under the Banner of G20, starting from the ZPEO office in Nehalpora and concluding at HSS Nehalpora after participants walked through different villages. More than 200 students actively participated in the Walkathon, emphasizing the significance of walking and physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

DYSSO Baramulla, in his message, highlighted the importance of these events in fostering sportsmanship, physical fitness, and healthy competition among young athletes from various schools. These initiatives play a vital role in nurturing the potential of the region’s youth and encouraging them to adopt an active and well-rounded approach to life.

The Department of Youth Services & Sports continues to strive for the holistic development of the youth in North Kashmir, empowering them through sports and instilling valuable life skills that will contribute to their future success.

South Kashmir

YSS Kulgam’s Zone Devsar organized a cricket Match  under the banner of sports for tribal community in which around 100  youths  from different panchayats of the zone participated.  And also Zone Yaripora organized a visit to Historical Place , Kanjikullah Waterfall  A visit to Historical Place is an out of box initiative to encourage youth  to visit historically important and naturally beautiful places of the Kashmir valley. A group of 100 students from various schools of zone Yaripora visited historical place of Kanjikullah waterfall. This educational  outing aimed is to foster a love for history and the environment among the young minds and making  them to become responsible citizens. Zone Kulgam organised Inter School Zone Level Badminton Tournament under the age group of U/ 14 & U /17 at Sports Stadium Kulgam.

 Similarly in Pulwama yss department  organised iSZL football competitions  at ups Sethergund. Students from various private and Govt. educational institutions actively  participated in this event zpeo kakapora addressing  the participants told that  the objective of the yss is to provide a nurturing environment for young athlete’s to develop their skill, build confidence and foster a healthy competition. 


 

The Department of Youth Services & Sports Anantnag  organized tournaments for different categories including school-going children, senior citizens, specially-abled students and the tribal population. In these tournament categories, the department is having the initiative of Sports Mela for Tribals in which zone Mattan hosted tribal population in a volleyBall, Kabaddi, Tug of War, Carom & Badminton for both Boys & Girls in which 245 tribal population took part in active sports. Zone Verinag conducted events in Chess, carom, Tug of war & Kabaddi among both Boys & Girls in which around 102 took an active part, while as zone Bhijbehra also hosted tribal population in Kabaddi, Tug of War, Badminton, chess, Carom and other cultural activities were also part of it.

In addition to this YSS Shopian organized different  sports activities in different Zones under the banner of Azadi ka Amrit Mahautsav and  G20.  Zone Keegan Displayed of yoga show   at GHS Sindoo Shirmal in witch 160 Students and some locals participated and In Zone Vehil Kho kho boys u/14 and u/17 age group was conducted at HSS Kaprin under the ba inner of Azadi ka Amrit  Mahautsav.  While at Zone Imam sahib u/19 cricket match was played under the banner of.G20 and In Zone Shopian badminton match of u/14 and u /17 boys was played at Sports Stadium Batepora  Spn under the banner of G20.
