Liverpool’s superstar forward Mohammed Salah could not perform the Eid prayers this morning in his home village in Egypt.

An unprecedented Salah-mania gripped the region as large numbers of reports and people gathered in front of his house in North Al-Gharbiya Governorate.

He wrote in a tweet in Arabic on Tuesday: “One isn’t able to go out of the house for Eid prayer because of what some journalists and people are doing.

“This has nothing to do with love. What this is called is a lack of respect and especially a lack of professionalism.”

According to Sky News Arabia, large crowds of people from his home village Nagrig gathered in front of his house which made it difficult to go out and forced his wife to pray with villagers.

Mo Salah arrived Tuesday early morning to his birthplace Nagrig, in Gharbia Governorate, where he joined his wife Magi and daughter Mecca, who arrived one day before him.

He made history last Saturday, winning the 2019 UEFA Champions League – the first ever in his career and the sixth for the Reds – after beating Tottenham Hotspur.

Local Egyptian media said that the police had cordoned off the area and closed the road leading to Mo’s house for fear more people will arrive.
