Srinagar, May 4: The chairman of the now suspended India Premier League (IPL) 2021 has said that organisers are looking into ways to send foreign players back home.
IPL 2021 was on Tuesday suspended after multiple cases of COVID-19 surfaced within the secure bio bubble of teams.
On Monday , two players of Kolkata Knight Riders and two members of Chennai Super Kings had tested Postive for COVID.
Making things worse on Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals leg-spinner Amit Mishra also returned with positive test results later.
“We need to send them home and we will find a way to do that,” IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
The overseas players involved in the league are concerned about returning to their respective countries due to travel restrictions imposed in the wake of a deadly resurgence of the pandemic in India. The BCCI had assured foreign players of a safe return earlier as well.
